Make sure you purchase a seat for your baby and take their carseat as they are much safer than if you held them for take-off and landing. Also, they are used to it and more than likely will fall asleep leaving you free to relax in your seats and not be cramped and uncomfortable. Airlines sometimes will charge half fares for children under 2. It's always best to place the carseat in the window seat as it will not block your egress in the event of an emergency. Also due to FAA regulations a carseat cannot be placed in an exit row or the row directly in front of an exit row. Bring baby's blanket from home and make sure you have extra changes of clothes and plenty of diapers in your carry-on bag, not to mention any special food/formula, etc. Most aircraft (to my knowledge) do not have microwaves so formula/milk cannot be warmed up. I hope you have a safe and comfortable flight. Do not be afraid to ask your flight attendants for a little help. Most (at least the ones I used to work with) were happy to assist.

I have been on a plane from Japan to North Carolina and that was like a 16 hour flight. She will sleep most of the time anyway.Check out the Pink elephant in Amsterdam.

My sister and her husband took my nephew on a super-long flight a while back. They were seated in a three-person row and made sure to purchase the additional seat. It made their trip, and the trip of those around them, SO worth the extra money. They had room to spread out, no one heard a screaming cranky baby, and everyone was more comfortable. I know not everyone can do that, but maybe request an empty row or near the front/back, so you can stand up and move around the cabin with the baby often. Good luck!

yeah we flew my 8 month old from chicago to india and that was a 24 hr flight....

take all that ur child needs for feeding + take some warm clothes as the temp in the plane drops at higher altitudes.

try giving ur child somethiing to suck on while taking off / landing as this will help in their ears not popping...

besides this there is nothing much u can do...
