there is no "brew cycle" button, or any button of any kind. it's a resevoir inside... do i have to turn this thing upside down? it's a 3 burner unit.

Take the top loose and remove the stainless steel resevoir to empty. otherwise you turn it upside down and wait. You will see the lime scale built up and remove it with a good commercial brand remover, similiar to ice machine cleaner. Letting it perk out will not remove the scale and other trash.

Turn off the water supply to the machine. Start the brewing cycle with an empty coffee basket in the machine. Press brew and the water will come out until its empty.

There must be a switch of some kind, even if you can't see it.
Just shut off or disconnect the water supply line, if so equipped, then do everything you would normally do to make a pot of coffee, except don't put any coffee grounds in it.
