there is the obvious baking soda in an emergency.....but not good to take over an extended period of time....if you have heartburn frequently then you should see your doctor.....acid reflux can be very damaging to your esophagus....as far as alka seltzer goes....i have box in front of me and it says good for acid indigestion, upset stomach, heartburn, headache, body aches and pains...so it is for heartburn but everyone is different in how well an otc medicine works...best bet talk to your doc....have a great day and good luck.

YES!! Simply eat a piece of raw celery. Super cheap, no side effects, works like a dream! Celery is very alkaline and eliminates heartburn. Ever notice it is served with hot chicken wings? It neutralizes the spice. I have told dozens of people about it and they all agree after trying it. There are a few articles on the Web if you look around.

Malox, Mylanta, Tums are all good for heartburn. I use Malox, but I am also take prescription medication for it. Stay away from anything acidic like tomato products and fruit juices. Eat smaller, more frequent meals. Avoid carbonated drinks, caffine, and spicy foods.

Couple things. Do not drink liquids with meals as it dilutes the stomach acid. If you have it inbetween meals, drink water to help dilute the extra stomach acid. And if you have it at night, sleep on your left side; on your left side the pipe is aimed up, and so it is a lot harder for acid to get up there. See if certain foods tend to give you heartburn, like tomato products, and if none of this helps, see your doctor about acid reflux disease.

Don't fool around with heartburn. It could be acid reflux and that will damage your esophagus. Talk to your Dr.

Although Baking soda works it really damages your stomach. I watched my dad do that for years and it on'y made his ulcers worse. Drink a glass of milk or try Gaviscon it's really good. And you can take as much as you need. Works wonders for me when I need it.
Alka selzter is meant for gas not heart burn will posibly make it worse.
