The Assemblies of God are a Pentecostal body. In fact, they're the largest Pentecostal body, at least in the U.S. They are probably a bit theologically more laid back than some other Pentcostal groups, but they're still Fundamentalists.
Here are some of their core beliefs (citing from Wikipedia here):
The inspiration of Scripture.
The Trinity.
The Deity of Christ.
Original sin.
Fellowship with God can be restored by accepting Christ’s offer of forgiveness for sin.
Two ordinances: Baptism, by immersion after receiving Christ, and the Lord's Supper, as a symbolic remembrance of Christ's suffering and death.
Baptism in the Holy Spirit following conversion.
Speaking in Tongues as the evidence of Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
Sanctification is a declaration and progressive lifelong process.
The Church's mission is to seek and save all who are lost in sin; the Church is the Body of Christ and consists of all people who accept Christ, regardless of Christian denomination.
Divinely called and Scripturally-ordained ministers serve the Church.
Divine healing of the sick is provided for in the atonement.
The Blessed Hope: a Rapture preceding the bodily return of Christ to Earth.
Premillennial eschatology.
Final Judgement and eternal damnation of the lost.
A future New Heaven and New Earth, in which Christ will dwell with his people forever.
Here's a US website for them:

Totally strict and totally scary! I was brought up as a Roman Catholic and now find myself on the 'other' side of the fence and questioning if there is ACTUALLY anything to believe in????
We were made to be affraid of God and told that if we were naughty then we would go to hell and be there FOREVER! Not nice to be told this as a pre-pubesant teen!
I do understand the teachings of the bible and I do think that Jesus was actually here, but I also think that he would turn in his grave if he saw the church as it is today! If he had a grave that is!!
We should be able to talk to God as and when, we should not have to have our new-born children baptised against a sin that was comitted by two make-believe people! If God is all forgiving, then he should forgive ALL! No?

I do not reccommend it. Check out Jonathon modene on line. I find his teachings to be excellent. We are just about to leave an assemvlies church the teaching is weak and they are more interested in having social events that getting down to the inportant stuff like praying.

It's a branch of Charismatic churches! I don't go to one - but I know people who do and it's really chilled out normally!

The Pentecostals are the most fanatic of all the fanatics. They roll and the floor speaking gibberish and hearing hate preached from the pulpit.

they follow the word of god...they should be generally laid back... but there can always be individual cases where it isn't...each church, irregadless of denomination, has a personality.... you just have to go where it matches your own personality and beliefs....
