CONGRATULATIONS on quitting smoking. I smoked for 20 years and quit! It's the best thing you can do for yourself.

Drinking more after quitting is a transference, from one addiction to another. Instead of drinking, why don't you pretend to inhale on a straw, silly as this may seem. The "pretend" inhaling fools your body into thinking you're actually smoking.

Also, every other drink you order should be water, or some other non-alcoholic beverage, to slow yourself down from drinking too much.

I would suggest you stay away from places serving drinks and where people smoke. Why put yourself through this?

Good luck!

I quit 1 year 4 months ago. I haven't seen an increase in my drinking. (I just drink alot anyway) :-)
I know some people actually drink less- because drinking is a trigger.

It's called transference. You are just transferring one addiction onto another.
