That many do not apply themselves as much as they should... You should always try and be the best person you can be. Always try to aspire to be more.

The danger of aiming to low and achieving is like setting your self up for failure.... if you always achieve everything, how are you to learn humility? or learn how to be humble? You have to learn how to fail in order to achieve... so to say...

When we aim high we are constantly seeking to improve ourselves and as a result even if we fail we shall have learnt from the experience and gained from it. On the other hand when we aim low we remain within the safety of what we know and do not see beyond thus never growing or expanding our knowledge.

i think it means that the greatest danger is not that we try to do something big or important and we fail, but most of us try to get by with the least amount of work and in that, we succeed. this quote would be best served if Michelangelo had said it in this day and age.

It means we should set goals that challenge and inspire us to reach "beyond our grasp", to stretch ourselves.
It's a variation on the quote "no pain, no gain" which you hear so often in reference to sports and exercise. Why settle for mediocrity when we can, with a little or considerable effort, attain great heights! (Plus, even if you fail to reach the higher goal, you've probably surpassed what would have been your lesser aim!)

Having crappy goals and obtaining them means you get crappy results.

Having awesome goals and missing them means you did something almost awesome.

Did you get the from "The agony and the ecstasy"? novel about Michelangelo? That was a prety good book but it was 700 pages

It's best to set high goals for ourselves and risk failure than to be satisfied with a minimal effort and minimal result and a guaranteed succress.

That's why most of us watch and not participate in the Special Olympics.

it means that your not in danger if you have high goals and dont reach them. the problem (danger) is that people have low goals, and do reach them. in other words, they dont expet very much, and dont end up with very much! i think michelangelo is trying to say, set high goals!!

I believe it means that we do not push ourselves in life to our full potential, and that is a tragedy.
