What ever you do DON't use SOSGEZ's diagram! A single pole switch should ALWAYS be in the live conductor, otherwise even with the switch off the lampholder is still live. Remember it is illegal to wire a light even in your own house now without having it passed by an authorised electrician.

Get a pair of 2way tights!!! (I think you'll find it's a LIGHT switch).
