because, as the bible says, there is only one mediator between God and man. (1 Timothy 2:5)

When I ask my friends to pray for me I usually ask the ones who are closest to God, because they are most likely to pray. Is that wrong?

As Mary is to be called "blessed" by all generations, and was one of the people closest to God when he walked the earth, is it wrong to ask her to pray for me?

May God give you His peace!

hmmm...I don't really think that most people read all of your questions. I do not think they got to the part where you talk about asking mary praying for us.

Either that, or all of the non-Catholics are taking a nap.

You also need to read Psalm 32:6 let every one who is godly pray. Ephesians 6:18 say that when you pray you should always be in the spirit on all occasions. What I am saying here is any one can pray but if the heart is not right is your prayer going to be answered? First pray for yourself before you ask anyone to pray for you. The prayer of a righteous man prevailth it much.

No way is that a sin! Prayer in groups is extremely effective. God has said "Where two or more are gathered in my name, I will be there." I ask people to pray for me all the time because I know God will listen when His people pray.

What it means when the Bible says mediator is that 1. Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven, but 2. it means that you confess your sins to no one else. Confession and repentance are to Christ alone because He came down to save you from those sins. A priest cannot forgive you and be a mediator between Christ and you. Only God can forgive sins.

My interpretation of 1 Timothy 2:5 is that we are to pray directly to God, not through Mary or Peter or Theresa or any of the other saints and blessed ones that went before us, for our needs and the needs of others, to praise the gifts we've received as well as the blessings of others. Matthew 5:44 says that we are even supposed to pray for those who persecute us. You can pray for forgiveness, rain, a new car, world peace, whatever you feel led to pray for and in HIS time HE will provide your needs and desires.

It could be true that there is only one mediator between God and man, yet that does not mean that God is not listening. God hears everyone's prayers. You should ask your friends to pray with you, not only for you.

It isn't a sin to ask your friends to pray for you. Problem is, most people only think about themselves first and the prayers never really get to God in time.

If there were enough people praying for us, we would have everything we wanted in life and have lots of interesting things to do and to say. Some of us have that already and we are truly blessed.

Prayer does work. People don't always cooperate though , with us.

the opposite!

James 5:16 (King James Version)
16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Hebrews 5:7 (He=Jesus)
7Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;.

Mary is dead. she cannot pray for you. pray to God yourself...no middle man necessary!
PEACE
*edited to add- re:1 Timothy 2:5 i think this is talking about Jesus/Holy Ghost being the only one who can save us from ourselves to God

Matthew 18:20
"For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."

-No it is not wrong- Jesus is the mediator yes- He is the one we PRAY TO. We can ask people to pray for us- and they will pray to JESUS. Group prayer is awesome- and as the Bible says, it is a good thing- when we pray together.

There is no sin in asking for Godly counsel and advice and prayer we are not meant to live this life alone and there are no "lone rangers" in Christ. God loves you, don't stress so much and live for today. God bless you.
