Someone suggested that I mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with shampoo and let it sit for 10 minutes. Will that come out natural looking? The color I want is Clairol Professional 37. My roots at the top of my head come in silver-bright and don't hold the color well. It makes for nice highlights, but my part looks a little orange.

get some clear shampoo
put it on your dry hair
let it set 10 -20 minuets
wash out
this will pull some of the color out - that's what Clairol told me to do when I called the 800 number on the back of the box.
It works

I wouldn't suggest it. With developer you run the risk of damaging your hair, especially because it is graying...you may end up looking like a calico cat. Hair dye usually fades. After you wash it a few times it should lighten. If you don't want to wait, shampoo your hair with dish liquid and use lots of conditioner.

I believe Clairol has 1-800 number you can call to consult with a professional (should be on the box, or website), try that.

No, 30 vol. developer won't do the job it will only hurt your hair. The color will fade away if you wash your hair with hair color
removal shampoo. To balance the color of your hair mix natural
color level 5 with warm gold (3) With this mixture you will have
warm medium brown hair.

No, developer alone will not lighten it up. Just give it some time or add highlights to it to lessen the dark effect.
