I think Ruffian or Mariah's Storm fit your theme better. Ruffian if you want triumph followed by tragedy. Mariah's Storm if you want initial promise followed by devastating tragedy with a triumphal comeback.
If you're not familiar with Mariah's Storm you can watch the movie Dreamer for a very Hollywoodized version of her remarkable story.

Very good choice. But the real Tragedy and Triumph is beyond the story of Sea biscuit winning the Santa Anita Handicap the story of Red the jockey Triumph over his Tradegy and coming back to ride Seabiscut in the race. The movie left out some details to the real story of Seabiscuit. But the part about the jockeys return from his accident are real.

Seabiscuit is resilient and tough, even though his grand-sire was Man o' War (#1 Top Thoroughbred racehorse of the 20th century), he is quite a small colt. He raced with a price tag on his bridle, for $2,500 on three occasion and $4,000 once, and nobody considered him worth the investment, but retired in 1940 the all-time money winner with $437,730.
There is so much more to say, that was my tidbit.

I think its really good topic...I enjoyed the movie and the book was fantastic!! Read the bood its not very long...it paints a little bit of different pic than the movie!! It goes into great detail and helps you better understand the times and Seabiscuit as well. He was a horse that no one took a chance on and when some one did the world was amazed and sorry they had passed him up! Good luck and great choice!!

Ruffian and Mariah's Storm are wonderful stories that would work as well. I love story about Seabiscuit the most. I suggest you read Laura Hillenbrand's book, it's well worth it. It's a story that I have read over and over again. Good luck with your project, I hope it goes well for you.

Is there much tragedy in that story? If you like horses and have to stick to that theme, research the horse "Ruffian," there's a tragic story.

It will work well. I recommend that you get a copy of the book by Laura Hildenbrand. It is available in paperback now at a reduced cost as well as carried by most public and school libraries. Good luck!
