Malik's Muwatta Book 38, Number 4448:
Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas:
If a man who is not married is seized committing sodomy, he will be stoned to death.
...................................................................................................
This contradicts the teachings of the Prophet, who decreed that all sodomites must be killed:
Book 38, Number 4447:
Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas:
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If you find anyone doing as Lot's people did, kill the one who does it, and the one to whom it is done.

In addition to Mark's answer, there have been numerous Hadith that contradict other Hadith or contradict the Qur'an itself. This is due to the fact that Hadith are not from God, but from the stories of witnesses to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (saws). Trouble is finding out exactly which ones are true and which are not. Over the years, scholars have devoted their lives to studying such things and researching the "chain" of narrators of the hadith to better determine which are trusted, which are not, and which fall in the middle. You will assurredly find contradictions and mistakes in many Hadith because these were told and placed in volumes many years after the death of Muhammad (saws), and, as we all know, to err is human.

Thanks Mr. Kayser for this Q
1st. The thing which you mentioned is strange a bit, in away that NON-married??? what about the married ones is it allowed? because other Hadiths on same subject will give the punishment for both, so it depends on the degree of strength of this hadith i.e The Ola-ma " scientists of Sharia Law" the can trace those who narrated the hadith up to prophet Mohammad PB UH and they have a complete history about each of them, so, they can distinguish the strength of hadith.
Then the one to judged this thing not me, you or others but the judge whom going to see the details of story.

so you have reviewed all the hadith, and ignored the hundred Hadiths that talks about worshiping One God, give charity, forgiveness, mercy, love each other, be clean....etc and you picked this one from among the hundred Hadith.
Truly, a disbeliever remain disbeliever even if you show him all the evidence of the earth.
do you want to know what's more worse than what you mentioned. the Hell , Tsunami, Katrina..etc

Committing sodomy is a deadly sin in all cases...it's mentioned in Quran...so why to discuss unknown hadith...what's the point?
and don't u think that your question is a little bit specialized to be posed to people here most of them are ordinary people?...if you are that interested, why don't u look for the answer in authentic sites?

When it comes to hard question like this one we can only follow what God said about the issue debated by you here. I think God said there is a punishment for that act less than killing I think and i can say only God knows

the man in charge of writing things like that down originally, liked sodomizing his wife, so he made it ok for married people.
