I had a great birthday party like that at West Side Tavern on West 23rd Street. (212) 366-3738

It was all you can drink, but if someone wanted to opt out of that, they could just pay by the drink. They have a really nice downstairs lounge as well. The owners own several other bars, if that location is not what you are looking for.

Last week I went to a party in the back room of Bamboo 52 - on 52nd between 8th & 9th Aves. It was very nice and they have tv's and music.

Two years ago I had a party in the back room of a place called The Black Door - on West 26th Between 6th & 7th. It was a very cool room and they played great music. However, later in the night anyone could come in and it got pretty crowded.

Go to Shecky's - http://www.sheckys.com/newyorkcity/nightlife/

They have a service called "Party Aid" and if you tell them what you are looking for, they can recommend places to you.

Do you have an area of the city in mind? There are just so many bars to choose from...it is hard to narrow this down!
