A same-sex couple cannot 'marry'. Marriage is between a man and a woman, and this is no more discriminatory than saying that only women can be wives and only men can be husbands.
It's harder to object to long-term, monogamous same sex partners wishing to register their relationships, gain certain legal rights and protections, and announce their relationship to the community. But do not call it marriage.

Change in society is the slowest process there will ever be, for too long has it been unspeakable to even touch on the subject and not since the last 50 years has it really ever been noted, so now as it becomes more and more common, society is forced to change its views, which can only happen over time, through the passing of generations. the older folks were raised believing it is a heinous act of sin against god. younger generations always differ from parents at a determining point, so as the older generations start to move out of their turn in control of the world, the yunger ones come up with opposite views replacing them.

Hi - I think it is fairly simple. People in power desperately want to hold on to that power. They are terrified that anything new or different could change the status quo and screw up the good deal that they have.
Men wanted women to be subservient to them because they liked the power.
Whites wanted to keep blacks down to maintain their power.
Straights don't want to gays to have equal rights because it will cut into their slice of the pie.
Deep sighhhh,
A

Same sex marriage harm children, and complicates taxation. Take for example Canada. A person here claims to be the 3rd parent of the child!! Now, if you are the child won't you be confused w/ having 3 parents?
Also, if we allow gay marriages, why not allow incest between 2 consenting, free, adults? Why not marriage between a man or a chimpanzee? Got the point?

I don't want them to marry, but I have no right to be handling those papers.
As long as I don't have to do something that goes against my beliefs, and you are not physically harming someone,go for it.

Some people think that forcing their religion on all the citizens of this country is acceptable. Those people are detestable.

I agree with you completely, but it seems that some people are a bit too interested in what OTHERS do with their lives.
I mean, I know religions don't accept gay marriage, but marriage is not (just) a religious matter. It's also a civil matter, and religions have NOTHING to say about civil ceremonies.

the issue isn't women being able to vote, or African American wanting to be freed
it is that same sex marriage is wrong
God instituted the marriage arrangement when he gave Eve to Adam, a woman to a man, I have nothing against people who choose a different lifestyle, just the lifestyle they choose
as it is against all natural law and Gods law

I'm with you. I can't understand the reasoning behind objecting to something that has nothing to do with you.
