I remember that Dr. Phil said that in his Love Smart book, his TV special, and his TV show. I don't like my looks, but I do love myself. Is it a true thing to do so, to attract others like the opposite sex around you? Does it work?

Yes, before you love someone else, you have to learn to love yourself...

YES!!!!

Human Beings can pick up on each others "energy" or "vibe"..Havent you ever been around someone and felt happy, or sad, or annoyed? It's because each person has energy..Like this women I work with: everytime I am around her--I feel nervous and uncomfortable. I recently found out that she has a bad reputation for being mean, hateful and spiteful to other co-workers--I picked up on her energy.

YES--every woman has to Like and Love herself!!You love yourself because you are a Child of God, and you're here, and God took ths time to create you...Take me for example: I am Beautiful, and I know I am. I LOVE my looks and I like who I am. I am overall a Happy, FUN person and I love to laugh--love to.
When I go places, men just flock to me: even when I'm wearing sweats and my hair is a mess. Its because they pick up on my energy. I was pumping gas last month, wearing sweats and my hair was covered with a scarf because it was a mess, but I felt so fabulous that I was looking at my reflection in the window just admiring myself---and this guy pulled up next to me and said "You look good, Ma".

If you dont like your looks, then do what you can to naturally improve them: buy new clothes, change your hair, lose/gain weight--whatever. But you can always improve yourself..But , you should LOVE your looks no matter how much of a bad hair day you are having!

And its not ALL about looks! Look at women like the actress Mo'Nique--she is 250 pounds and she LOVES herself! Men love her and her new husband is gorgeous--its because men like women who love themselves..

You should make a list of the things that you like about yourself--your laugh, your smile--all the thinsg that No one else has. Then appreciate that! Peace

I don't know about Dr Phil, never seen him, but I'd say, Yes, it's true.

If you do not love yourself, and have healthy self-respect and self-esteem, what you are talking about is not love, but NEED.

Think about it, a secure, comfortable person, who seems content with themself, and who has a good sense of humor is far more attractive than a clingy, needy person, who is always putting themself down!
