Look at the waves in the ocean. Each one is unique and beautiful, and yet part of the whole. If you look at what that suggests, then it is easy to see how to treat others. Each individual expresses something truly extraordinary yet is part of the whole. That is what makes the whole so wonderful

An individual is a member of a species, a single organism. I treat my dog rather well, and I try not to kill too many insects, so I suppose I am kind enough to individuals not belonging to my species. All individuals are part of a grouping called "species", which are individuals alike to each other enough to produce fertile offspring. What does this have to do with religion?

An individual is anyone who isn't like anyone else. I think we are all individuals to some extent, but to what degree does our individuality take is what really makes you look at that person say 'he certainly is an individual!'
