It's cause of regional restrictions. For example if you buy a dvd from the US and play it on an Australian dvd player, it won't play. This only happens on some dvd players. Some can play dvds from any regions.

make sure ur dvd player is the kind that plays all regions
some dvd players are only working with region one or two..
that mean the dvds u get must be the same region as ur dvd player. it can also be called a "zone"

Perhaps they aren't intended to be on a DVD. Or maybe the fact that it was ripped from an original. It all depends.

Because the producers put so much copy protection on that some players simply can't read them anymore.
Let's all make a big noise about that and have them stop this nonsense.
It was already done with CDs (Sony!)
