Include Christians tossed to the lions, fighting in Northern Ireland, Middle East fighting with Israel, Holocaust, witch hunts, etc. No religion is exempt.

I am trying to get a perspective on the destructive nature of religion, not blaming a specific religion. I'm not giving any religion the moral high ground here.

I want to compare religion driven deaths to wars for land acquisition or trade or purely political reasons. If you can't separate politics from religion, then it's counted in the religious total.

Not to mention things sanctioned by the Church like slavery,
inquision or torture of detainees. Most wars faught in the world if not all were faught in the name of religion.
there was something interesting I heard an estimate that more people live on the earth today than probably lived on the earth during the last 6000 years of human history.
So most crimes are committed now? In comparison by population. when they faught a war before someone got hit with a sword or a club. Messy but small battle fields.
Now more die in one missle. But it is cleaner, not much left behind.

I think it must range billions...

Why I say is b/c

1. There must of been battles and killings which have not been recorded

2. Some records are inaccurate and exact on the death of peoples

3. Some records might of been lost or destroyed showing many battles that might of happened as it was, is and will be common since God created us.

4. Some records might of been lies written in them

5. Some records and battles might be kept secretly by greedy people and not shown to the public.

These theories are from my understanding

Not sure of the numbers, but I would say that religion has played a major role in just about every human conflict in history.

Oh dear, I'm sorry I really can't even come close to a figure for you. I do know, however, that if I had a nickle for every living creature killed in the name of God I would be a very very rich Otter.

The whole idea of separating Relgion and Politics is NEW, so, all deaths, all wars ... all of them... have used God as an excuse to kill (I suspect against God's will). some call Iraq a 'holy war' ... so... guess it counts too.
