West Memphis Three is NOT a religion, nor does it have anything to do with it. I'm just wondering why I can't give flyers with the candy, since so many OTHER people like to hand out religious stuff. To find out more about the West Memphis Three, here's the website:

I'd actually like that because the story is so interesting.
As long as theres candy, I don't care what trash people try to give me.

I wish I knew what West Memphis Three flyers were!
But I don't think it's wise to hand out tracts to trick-or-treaters. I think it turns the kids off completely from your religion.
See, EVEN IF you give candy along with it, the kids may not notice it until they get home, dump out their treats, and realize someone put a tract in there. They are not going to necessarily have paid attention to where it came from. So they won't have noticed you also put candy there. So they will think that some dimwit put a tract in there, and they will automatically be turned off by the religion of that person. I mean, what kind of religion doesn't allow kids to have candy once in a while?! Sounds like a real bummer.

A lot of people do. I don't see what is wrong with it. As long as they are free to say, "no thanks", most people probably won't mind what you give them (beggars cannot be choosers).
Having said that, I believe that harsh, judgmental tracts that specifically say things like, "Halloween is of the devil, and you shouldn't be begging for candy, you greedy little sinners" are probably not going to be read, so why encourage littering? On the other hand, tracts that describe the plan of salvation are good, as long as they are Biblical, and are usually good for this sort of thing.

If "West Memphis Three" has nothing to do with religion, then you are in the wrong section.
For future reference, you shouldn't assume that everyone on here would automatically know about something that happened in Arkansas over ten years ago. Many people here are not even from the United States, better yet from the Mid-West.

Who said it's okay to hand out religious flyers, at Halloween or any time for that matter? I'm a religious person but don't go pushing my beliefs on others and am quite offended when it's done to me or my kids. Halloween is meant for children to have fun, period. Adults need to back off and let kids be kids, for petes sake!!!!!

I would try handing them out.Tell them what it is,and if they refuse, say "That's OK."and drop the subject and leave them to their candy gathering pleasures.
Good Luck!

I see no problem with this. They are coming to your house to receive. Your treat is a piece of candy and the word of God.

did you consider what might happen ? there may be retaliations one hadn't planned on so it might be best not to do anything to drastic.
