Here is a hypothetical situation. You have a crush on a guy for a long time, but since he didnt talk to you (for whatever reasons) kinda gave up. If you were still single later and wanted a relationship, and he asked you soon after that would you go out with him?

Yes, go for it! Who knows exactly why he didn't talk to you or ask you out before. Maybe he was going through a difficult time in his life, maybe too busy, maybe distracted, maybe shy, maybe involved with someone else at the time, ... The list goes on and on. All that matters is "RIGHT NOW." If you are both single and you think there is potential for a healthy relationship, do it.

I'm a little confused but the answer is I would go out with him if I wanted to. If I was single and a guy I liked asked me out I see no reason not to say yes

Why not. Maybe at the time when I first liked him, he wasn't ready for a relationship. If you are both ready now, then that is great and go for it.
