Engineering technology practitioners are the Generalists amongs engineers, they are usually well versed in CAD software and can take on a variety of hybrid subjects such as mechanotronics, subjects in precision mechanics (optics, photonics, etc). You should be pretty good at math or at least enjoy it, and physics of course is very important.

If you take plenty of chemistry, you may also be working with fluid dynamics, and SCADA related work. You can look that up in Wikipedia, it applies to many fields in engineering from particle accelerators to water plants.

Your title will also be diverse, you can be a design engineer or at entry levels a technician. Expect salary and compensation comparable to other engineering fields.

If you are attending a community college for an engineering technology degree, that's a different story, then you need to go on to a 4 year institution to get a BS degree in a more specific area, or if they offer a BS or BE in Engineering technology, then you can opt for that as well.

Hope this helps, good luck.

I have been working as an engineer in the USA for 25 years and have never met anyone with a degree in "Engineering Technology" or anybody that claimed to be an Engineering Techonoligist or Technician.

Engineering technology is not the same as engineering. The training involves less science and is more hands-on. The pay for an engineering technician is going to be lower than an engineer. The work is going to be the more tedious tasks that an engineer may not want to do. Advancement opportunities may not be there for the ET. If you are smart enough to go for the full engineering degree, I suggest that you go for that as there will be more advancement opportunities.

Engineering Technology is more hands-on than Engineering. Technologists generally lean more toward application of engineering concepts while engineers (theoretically) work more in theoretical concepts.

In today's workplace technologists are used just as often and in the same jobs as engineers. The engineering technologist generally does not take as much theoretical math, but takes many technical courses.

Your level of salary in Engineering Technology can be equivalent to an engineers, it depends on your area of expertise.
