Be specific! What do you really FEEL? Do you get chills? Do you feel joy? Is it at all like loving a family member or friend, or totally different? I have been trying to reconnect with my christian faith, but it's slow going. I pray sincerely and go to church, but I'm not feelin' the love.

God is Love in all circumstances. It is not God who draws away from us when things go wrong it is we who draw away from him. He loves us with what is called AGAPE LOVE which is the utmost, neverending, all encompassing form of love there is. He loved us so much he sent his one and only son to give his life for us as an example of how much love he has for all of us. Just imagine in your own mind the love you must feel for people to be able to give up the most important thing in the world to you so that they might not suffer. Giving love to others by helping them when needed, caring for people who have so much less than what you might have, always giving of yourself at all times without resentment; these are just some of the things that will open your heart so that God's love for you will fill up the spaces in your heart that maybe now are filled with unhappiness, resentment, hatred, unforgiveness, unkindness, and the list goes on and on. If you carry these in your heart there is no space for the Love of God to dwell. As we all know, you can't keep fire and water in one bucket. Try to show the same kind of love God has to others and you will see what I mean. I have. It Works!

You are having a Job (the Bible guy) experience. Remember when Jesus asked, "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?" You are going through that same feeling. The feeling that He is nowhere near. I've experienced it, too. I hated it! But do you really want your faith to hinge on a "feel good" kind of thing? Drugs can offer that kind of religion. Good feelings come and go. So wouldn't you rather have a faith that's built on the solid foundation of God's Word? It stands forever! So, let this be the time that you prove you love God by remaining faithful. Just let your love prove itself to Him. You may be being tested like Job was. Stay close to His Word. If the devil is around he'll hate that! I am certain you will come out of this very dark time. I never thought my dark time would end but it did. And now I'm all the more stronger spiritually for having gone through it! It will never scare me again! It took about a year, but the darkness passed. If nothing else, just use this "dry spell" to learn more about the Bible. Even though you will feel nothing, you will be sowing good seed in your heart and may need to draw upon it in the future when things are better. In the immortal words of The Five Stairsteps: "Ooh child, things are gonna get easier. Ooh child things'll get brighter." And I'm certaing one day soon you'll be singing the Johnny Nash hit, "I can See Clearly Now the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles in my way. Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind. It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day!" Good luck and I'll keep you in my prayers!

I once dreamed of the Lord. He was surrounded by rocks with people on them. The Lord was sitting on a rock in the middle of a small lake. I was sitting on the rocks that circled the lake and Jesus. Jesus then beckoned me over to Him. I waded through the water and knelt beside Him. I touched His hand and I wept at the opportunity. I awoke from my dream knowing that one day I will see Him again. I have never felt anything else like it before. I felt love, joy, overwhelming happiness...I cannot describe my love for Jesus Christ.

Phil S, I know its not Christ-like, but you are a tool!

In order to truly feel Jesus' love I have to be as seperated from the world as possible. I can't have had to argue with my children first thing in the morning or had a disagreement with my husband. If I've struggled with my temper or am holding a grudge against someone, had trouble controlling my language or involved myself in worldly things like partying or bad movies, etc. I can't feel it. I have to come to Him with a pure heart, having asked for forgiveness and been keeping my eyes on Him in my daily life to be able to have my heart open and feel His love in me. But even during those times when I can't "feel" His love, my faith lets me know that He's still there loving me and watching over me. Don't give up. Dig deeper, clean out the junk and keep your faith and you'll feel Jesus' love.

I had the love of God in my heart young, but when I married, moved & forgot about God for 10 years, I got into trouble physically because of wrong choices.

When I did repent for doing something (had a drunken blackout) I went into a physical, mental, emotional & spiritual breakdown. That was the conscequences of falling away. It lasted about a year. And I sought God & found out I had idols in my life. Didn't even know where a bible was.

So, I did get healed from this after a year, because someone brought me to church that prayed for me. I was healed by the love of God. Pastor prayed for me about the 4th time I went forward at the Church. He said that God's Anointing was coming. The Holy Spirit fell on me overwhelmingly. I praised God with my hands going straight up (a first for me) in tongues.

So ever since then, I pray to God, honest from the heart. I get renewed in the spirit from time to time.

It is different than loving others. Yet I love others more and walk in forgivness when others hurt me.

When you pray to God, look at the Love. God is Love. You need to have faith that God Is and He loves you and will never leave you or forsake you.

Also, God won't hear you if you are in unforgivness toward someone. Repent of that. You will feel uncomfortable (instead of love) if you doubt Him. If I doubt God in any way, I can feel miserable. So the verse comes to mind, "Without faith, it is impossible to please God, for those that come to Him must believe that He Is, and is a rewarder to those who diligently seek Him."

Write me if you want more answer.

God can give you fuzzy feelings, chills (Holy Spirit tingles), joy from faith in Him, inner assurance of His faithfulness, etc. But you need to put God 1st in your life.

Trust & Obey. To be happy in Jesus is to trust & obey.

My love is more of an inner peace. A peace that allows anything that comes my way to be easily accepted or cast off like a bad habit. Its a peace that I know I can handle anything b/c Jesus has my back. He is always there to catch me, pick me up, and send me on my way. Its almost like a feeling that "life is easy". As long as I have my friend....nothing can stop me.

It is not as much of a feeling, as human eros type love is.

To love Jesus is an attitude. To love Jesus is a mindset, a way of thinking, speaking, and behavior. Not based on feelings!!

The result of loving Jesus through trust in Him and obediance to His teachings, is Peace and Joy!!!

When I think about all the things God has blessed me with, i feel SOOO happy and amazed, like "WOW...." When I think about all of the hurt and pain and suffering Jesus went through to save ME, and people who cursed him and harmed him and hated him, that makes me was to extol him and tell him how i feel. I get chills when i think about how he is actually listening to me right now and watching me this very moment. I feel protected and secure knowing my savior LOVES me. I love having a life-long companion who is with me and forever loves me no matter what!!!! =D

Just as with anyone, love of Christ can run the entire gamut of emotion. Sometimes you feel giddy, sometimes it's just a secure feeling, and sometimes you feel as though you are wrapped in a loving embrace. At other times, you may have trouble feeling anything at all. Just remember, He didn't save you because of how much you love Him, but because of how much He loves you.
