I received a phonecall from SmartStep as a courtesy for being a longtime customer of my bank. I thought I said I didn't want their "coverage" but apparently the woman entered "yes" in the system. I need to find contact information for them so that I can cancel the plan. Please help.

Beware, if you said no, then you owe them nothing. This kind of scam is very common - they tell you you bought it and try to convince you of it. Read this article about a similar type of scam:

I am so glad to find that other people have written about SmartStep! I need to contact them and get them to stop taking money out of my checking account!!! I don't have any further info, but am just glad that I might have made some headway in getting this problem resolved once & for all.

The same thing happened to me. I contacted my bank and they, more or less, brushed me off. I have also tried contacting SmartStep, no response. If you happen to figure out how to solve this problem, please contact me!

1-866-879-0179 They tried it on me too. I turned it in as fraud to my bank and they gave me this number.
