If you seem too keen, they can take advantage of you, they think they have the upper hand and you can get burned, my motto is treat em mean to keep em keen! I don't mean like really mean just a little standofish so they chase you rather than you chase them. Have you ever liked a guy and then he wasn't interested so you moved on and a soon as you do he started wanting you? If not you will.

Well, I'm a lot more "moderate" with relationships than a lot of guys I know... I'm a big fan of both people having a say in things, and actually talking about things when someone does something that pisses off the other... heh.
In any case, without getting into a rant about people being jerks... the things I think that are big turn offs for most guys are:
- Being TOLD what to do. Not being asked or discussing things, but being straight out told what to do, as if you are their Parent.
- Expectations that are unreasonable. Expecting your partner to spend every available moment with you, whether it be quality time or just sitting on the couch watching TV is unreasonable and to be honest, somewhat neurotic. A little free space can do wonders.
- Men like to help. Sometimes we can't do anything for you, you've got something you're sad or mad about, and there's nothing we can do, but in a relationship, most men at least want to be part of the cycle that helps you get over things. When your guy says something like "What's wrong?" Don't do the, "nothing." If you don't want to talk about it, let them know you don't want to talk about it, but that you appreciate them asking, and that if you think he can help, that you'll ask him.
Wow, these are all stuff that go both ways so far huh? hehe.
If you're in a relationship that involves sex, then there are a few others...
- Communicate. Nothing is worse than "making love" with a pillow. I know that sounds harsh, but seriously... if you just lay there and don't say anything, don't let a guy know if he's "doing things right" or wrong, or at all... well... it gets old really fast.
- Expectations. Again, sometimes we just want what we can't have, or don't want what we should have... heh. Seriously though, the old cliche about women "having a headache" isn't just for women... sometimes guys are just too tired or stressed out for anything really intimate. Fix: offer a massage or to just "hang out" for a while. Sure, it's not as intimate, but at least you're spending time together... and if things get more relaxed, who knows what could happen right?
Hrm... so many more things that matter... anyway, as far as what makes a girl seem desparate (you thought I was gonna forget that part huh?)...
- Constantly asking unnecessary questions. Always asking for reassurance of our "love" or devotion... constantly bugging us to do ANYTHING that keeps us at your hip.
- Mood swings. Look, we all have mood swings, men and women. The difference is that when men have mood swings, most of the time the internalize it... which is easier on the people around them (though harder on themselves, go figure). Women tend to externalize mood swings, and this can destroy any shred of happiness for a guy if it happens too often. I know guys that are afraid to say anything nice to their significant other, simply for the fact that they are honestly afraid of how she will react. That is crazy... but true. How does this relate to being desparate? Very simple: if you are "desparate" for affection, you are waaaaay more likely to act like this... it's kind of like a baby crying for no reason, just for attention. DON'T DO IT.
anyway... back to work... hope that helps.

Calling 3 or 4 times per day. Biggest turn-off would be personal hygiene or bad breath.

Yes, to all of the above. Clingy, talk too much, call to often, too physical, yes all that. Plus not listening, not remembering, and not let there be a quiet time when you are together.

One thing they always do is grab my crotch, for some reason they can't seem to get their hands off of it!
A turn off for me would be an airhead!!
