Yes. It does help in the body flushing toxins out.

For drug tests, it is also recommended, but that certainly is not the only reason to take Goldenseal Root.

As far as it showing on a test itself, as long as it is tested for, then it is possible, but since there is nothing about Goldenseal Root that is contraband, what's that difference?

Bad idea using alternative medicine in general. Very few safety regulations compared to regular.

Besides, if any of this stuff ACTUALLY WORKED, it would get turned into an ACTUAL MEDICINE and sold for four times its current price. Or sometimes they keep it classed as a "dietary supplement" to get around FDA limits on safety (remember ephedrine?) Manufacturers aren't stupid...

Judging by this website, its safety concerns that keep this stuff from ever becoming a real medicine:

"The use of very large doses can or extended use is not suggested. Not for use during pregnancy or by children under two. Children and older adults should take smaller doses." (http://www.primary.net/~gic/herb/goldenseal.htm).

And if you actually have toxins in your blood stream at dangerous levels, try poison control. If you are worried about general buildup from lifestyle, try organic food and NOT using ionic air cleaners (ozone is toxic) and avoid foods cooked with teflon pans (you don't even want to know).
