"Cardamom -- Use cinnamon or mace. Since cardamom is a strong aromatic spice belonging to the ginger family, if you run out, try 1 teaspoon curry powder -- which contains cardamom. The taste will be equally enjoyable. "

Cardamon is used as a substitute for cinnamon in Danish pastries, cookies, cakes, breads and apple pie so maybe cinnamon will be a good substitute for cardamon

You can try ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, coriander seeds or mace, starting with half the quantity specified and adding more to taste.

it's a quite unique flavor , I can't think of anything similar. maybe plenty of white pepper.
