when you are buying a used car, what is a good mileage to look for? I know not a lot.

Mileage is not as important as maintenance.
If possible get maintenance records. A well maintained car with 60K miles is probably a better car than a 20K miles car that has never had any maintenance done on it.

National average is between 12K - 15K per year. So if the car is 2 years old expect mileage between 24K-30K, under that mileage is obviously better, but use caution to be sure the odometer has not been rolled back.

Check out the car at http://www.carfax.com to get a history of the vehicle.

pick a veh that you like than go on autotrader, look for that same veh with high miles .this will give you an idea as to how long the live ....for example you will not find many 1998 ford Taurus with over 150k but you will find hundreds of 80's 300 Mercedes with over 200K and some as high as 600K. the fords died and the better car lived .this may or may not help you

it varies a lot! It depends on what you want, what you can afford, what make...etc.

you can email me with a more detailed question if you prefer.

Always use www.kbb.com for used/new prices and www.carfax.com for a vehicle history report BEFORE you buy anything auto!

good luck!
