First - Revelation is highly symbolic. Revelation 1:1 shows it came from God, to Jesus, then by an Angel, to John to be delivered to God's people to show them what must shortly take place, and was written in "symbols or signs".
It takes an understanding of the rest of the Bible to understand Revelation. I will give you a couple of examples then recommend a good book that I have read.
The Lamb of Revelation 14: 1 is Jesus (See John 1:29), Mount Zion Represents Heaven (see: Hebrews 12:22)
The Dragon of Revelation 12:3 is the Devil (See: Revelation 12:9)
The Beast of Revelation 13:1,2 Represents the would political powers that have governed from the past until now (See Daniel :7 1-8 and 23,) and the Sea represents the wicked populace of mankind from which they have sprung (Please see Isaiah 57:20). Revelation is difficult to understand, but worth it, because it predicts that ultimately there is a bright future ahead.
I got a book from Jehovah's Witnesses called Revelation Climax At Hands. Its deep reading but helpful.

It is amazing how many people are telling you to not look into the truthful matter regarding the book of Revelation. Perhaps these people do not want you to find the real interpretation.

Revelation—Its Happy Climax! A REVELATION TO JOHN—this thrilling book of the Bible brings the divine record to a happy climax. Why do we say “happy”? Well, the Author of the Bible is described as “the happy God,” who entrusts “glorious good news” to those who love him. He wants us to be happy too. Thus, at the outset Revelation assures us: “Happy is he who reads . . . the words of this prophecy.” In its final chapter we are told: “Happy is anyone observing the words of the prophecy of this scroll.”—1 Timothy 1:11; Revelation 1:3; 22:7.

How do we find happiness through the book of Revelation? We do so by searching out the meaning of its vivid signs, or symbols, and acting in harmony therewith. Mankind’s turbulent history will soon reach a catastrophic climax, as God and Jesus Christ execute judgment on today’s wicked system, replacing it with “a new heaven and a new earth,” where even “death will be no more.” (Revelation 21:1, 4) Do not all of us want to live in such a new world, in true peace and security? We can if we build up our faith through study of God’s Word, including the stirring prophecy of Revelation.

Then Revelation will strengthen your hope of living in Paradise, as part of the new earth, with the enjoyment of an abundance of peace, vibrant health, and an overflow of God’s provisions that will never end. (Psalm 37:11, 29, 34; 72:1, 7, 8, 16.) If you want to survive into that new world, it is urgent, yes, mandatory, that you pay attention to Revelation’s graphic description of the epoch-making climax now at hand.—Zephaniah 2:3; John 13:17.

Symbology is the Universal language. It is never wrong, but
humans often interpret them wrong.
Basically, the Earth is going to go through a major physical change. It will open the doors to other realities as well.
We will find out just how true spiritual things are, and come face to face with the spiritual evil we create by misusing, or not
using our spiritual power. We have created all kinds of frightening things, through wars and violence, that around us on
a multi-dimensional level.
There are bad spiritual beings out there too. And they will try to cause as much trouble as possible for us.
At some point. Our Creator will put a STOP to it.
Judgement Day, as you can see if you read the Book. Will not takt place until after the 1000 years of peace, and evil even comes back for a while.
So that might be 10,000 years way still!

The book of Revelation (not revelations), was written by apostle John. He wrote the gospel of John and the 3 letters of John...John 1, John 2, John 3. He was the favorite apostle of Jesus..so the Lord gave John a "Revelation" of the second coming of Jesus, which every detail of it is in this last chapter of the bible. The lord used a lot of symbolism which makes the chapter hard to understand, but if we are truly born-again, the Holy Spirit will reveal every truth to us...this is my prayer for you!

Try doing a web search on the prophecies in the book of Revelation, see what you can come up with, it would take forever to write out everyhting that is going to happen and things that are symbolic and things that are literal.....you have to remember that John was trying to describe things that he had never seen before and was describing them in the only way he could by comparing it to things that he had seen..a good study Bible would be a big help with understanding.

There are lots of people who THINK they can explain it, but you can read it yourself and your opinions are probably as good as anyone else's.

One place you do NOT want to go for an explanation is watchtower.org. Because they consider themselves to be the only worthwhile people on earth, they tend to see themselves in a lot of the Bible prophecies. Here is an example of one of their explanations of Revelation 14:20 which speaks of "a distance of 1600 furlongs."

In their WT publication called The Finished Mystery, on page 230, it gives you measurements that add up to 1600 furlongs and explains that the Bible is referring to the distance from Scranton, Pennsylvania to the Watchtower headquarters in Brooklyn, New York. I kid you not....it breaks it down into miles and even feet, such as this "Hoboken Ferry to Barclay Street Ferry, New York, is 4,800 feet or .9 miles.'

It concludes by saying that it was the guidance and help of the Lord who made these explanations possible. I doubt that the Lord would want credit.

The book of Revelations is the entire salvation history in a mysterious story that is only understood from the spiritual aspect of things. If you get a chance, get ahold of the book "The Lambs Supper" by Scott Hahn. It will explain it in detail.

That's a tough one! Have you read the left behind series? That has explained a lot of what's to come even though it is fictional, it still gives you a good idea of what could happen. I know that we will for sure feel God's wrath, but His love at the same time. Also John Hagee does a lot of books and sermons on the end of times. He explains things VERY well.

Yeah Jesus Wins!

he he he. I don't have space here but I can try a little overview. John the beloved apostle gets a vision of things that are happening then and things that will happen later at the end of our world as we know it. Jesus starts by giving a message to the churches. What they are doing right and wrong. Then there is a large amount of judgements and just punishment or in other words the world gets a real bad spanking. Then Jesus sets up his kingdom for a thousand years. After that everything that has opposed Jesus and GOD are tossed into the lake of fire forever and those who have put their trust in Jesus go home to Heaven forever. The End.

:) May GOD richly bless you.

The Book of Revelation can be confusing to the modern reader because much of it was written using a symbolic style of language that is not used today. Sincere Bible scholars, in fact, disagree about the meaning of some of the symbolic passages. But that should not keep us from reading it and understanding its main message.

The key for the reader is to try to see beyond the details to the main themes, which are tremendous truths. For example, the book of Revelation underlines the fact that this world is doomed, and our hope must never be in this world or its political systems and philosophies. It also points us to the great truth that some day God through Christ will triumph over death and evil, and Satan will be utterly defeated.

The Book of Revelation emphasizes that Christ will come again some day in great glory to establish His Kingdom of perfect justice and righteousness, "and he will reign for ever and ever" (Revelation 11:15). Some day those who know Christ will be secure forever in Heaven, and "there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" (Revelation 21:4).

Most of all, the Book of Revelation (like all of the Bible) points us to Christ. He is the Savior and Lord of all who trust in Him, and some day we will see Him face to face. Are you ready for that day? You can be, by repenting of your sin and giving your life by faith to Christ today.

p.s. DO NOT go to watchtower.org as another person advised you to! It is the site of the Jehovah's Witness! (a cult!) Contact me by e-mail anytime.
