wouldn't the bible be called something like : The complete works of God , as compiled by God . or , God's handbook for people , by God . maybe , God's vision as told by God . perhaps , I , God , have inked these pages for the masses . couldn't anyone say , god had me write this ?

WOW! I like that! Good question!
I like your ideas - it would have made things much simpler for us if things were the way you said. I can only tell you why I believe the Bible is the Word of God. In its pages it does challenge the reader to do the will of God and he shall know if the things in it are true. Can't get much simpler than that can it? I find that the more I do what the Bible says, the more inner peace I experience. And my relationships with others become more valuable. Not to mention God seems nearer than ever the more I obey His Word. I guess one of the biggest reasons I believe the Bible is written by God is that it is brutally honest! It incriminates its heroes. (Moses murdered someone, King David lusted, Peter denied Jesus.) Other religions tend to elevate their leaders above everyone else which to me is unrealistic - they're only human. Another thing that convinces me that the Bible is God's Word is that men of God were brutally beaten for trying to spread it around...and yet they were willing to continue spreading the word - even in the face of being crucified or even worse. That's a far cry from the price any New Age guru is willing to pay to get their message out. They just wallow in their book sales. Anyway, that's my best answer for you. It is the Holy Spirit that reveals the truth....Anyone can read the Bible and anyone can know what it says- Even Satan knows what the Bible says....But it is the Holy Spirit that reveals the TRUTH- through God's word.
Hebrews 4:12-13
12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Maybe God wanted it called "The Bible" and he wanted the names of those who scribed the books to place thier name upon it.
