He won't try and run off when he can smell a female in heat. He won't be able to reproduce. That is about the only differences you will notice.
I don't know where all this behavior changes, etc. come from. I don't see any differences other than the ones above in my dog or my friend's dogs. It is healthier for the dog and there will be no unwanted dog population growth. That is good enough for me.
BUT, he still humps things. He still marks his territory. He still runs around like an idiot and he even chases his tail........All that is O.K. with me. I stop the behavior I don't like and laugh at the rest. He is a puppy and I wouldn't want his behavior to be any different than before the surgery.

Your dog will be the same. Just had mine fixed about 4 months ago and he acts exactly the same. My dog is 8 years old and he still acts like a puppy. Don't worry, he's going to be fine.

He may not act differently, it entirely depends. In my clinic I have seen neutered dogs that act identical to how they did before, I have seen hyper dogs calm down, I have seen confident dogs loose their confidence and become afraid of things that they had not been fearful of before, I have seen dogs act the same except stop roam, I have seen dogs become more aggressive, I have seen dogs become less aggressive, I have seen dogs become less dominant, and much more. There is no way to guarantee how one dog will react to it, although calming down or no change are most common.

His personality is not going to change, if that's what you mean. You'll still have your dog. He's likely going to be a bit calmer, not as likely to be aggressive towards other males. He'll still lift his leg on mail boxes and sniff where he can smell other dogs.

He really shouldn't act any differently. Neutering only eliminates hormonal driven behaviors it doesn't change the dog..he will be waht he will be.

It depends on how old he is. If he is very young... no change really. If he is mature... he may still think and act in tact but will not be able to reproduce.
