My dog is now licking himself. This reminds me of a question. Muslims, why are dogs condemned as pets?

I've been told it is because they are gross and that if they lick you it is some how bad. I've done some reading and dog licks and bites (sans rabies) are not harmful. The germs a dog carries in his mouth are less harfmul to us than the germs we carry in ours. What gives?

Dogs are not condemned as pets, however, since Muslims are supposed to pray 5 times a day - before praying we are supposed to wash ourselves and be clean. If we have a dog running around the house, the germs/saliva/dog hair will be all over the place and would prevent us from praying in a clean place. Also if the dog licks you, the saliva causes us to be unclean and we would need to change our clothes etc to cleanse ourselves before we pray.

I've always had a dog when I was little in Pakistan but the Dog was NEVER allowed to come in the house...we had a special dog house made for him in an open garage where he would stay warm and run around in the yard.

Ok this is one of the tricky ques that always been ask to the MUSLIMS.

I'm a thinker and i believe Islam teachings is mainly logical. Islam forbid highly 2 animals. The Dogs and the pigs. For pigs we could understand that they are a "dirty" animal. Pig can't sweat and a way to cool their body is by roling over mud. But the problem is Pig's dont toilet trained so they do it in the mud that they roling so they just happily swim in their own feices and pee and they even eat them! How about Dogs? Even tho dogs is man's best friend and serve man very well but why does it forbiden? ... i can explain but i think i wont explain it to you. Cos i'm afraid you might get the wrong idea.

What i can say is that Islam teachings is always logical. If there is a rule then there MUST be a reason. But i can give you a clue. Its not the dog saliva or fur or anything. That is just to prevent muslim to touch them at all cost. The primary reason is the dog behavior(i think). Dogs has a distint behavior unlike any animals And that behavior is harmful to Us Human. I've seen it happen in the west and it happen frequently. I just dont understand why us humans can do such disgusting things!!!! (hint Hint) But this is just MY opinion.

Do remember these simple rules is one of the few mystery rules that many muslims have not yet discovoured fully the reasons. The pigs have been discovered recently but the dogs rule hasn't been fully understood. And yes we can have them as a gaurd dogs if only there is someone who can take care of them.

Shame on you jim that never happened as Allah told us to eat some animals only like cows,chicken,etc....for the dog it is not harmful but germs that the dog carries make our wodoa' is not useful...wodoa' is something we must do before praying...that's all...but dogs can be used for security and outside the house...must be outside the house..there was a story said that a rich woman suffered a cat she went to hell because of that and a dancer who made a dog ate she went to heaven because of it...

In the Quran their is a verse that mention dog but it does not say they are not clean. The verse says you can let them hunt for you and catch animals so if they were dirty i don't think we can eat what they catch.

hello my name is myturbinisdirty ahmed ahkeen...i have a pet camel named spot . we muslims only eat dogs . and sometimes a jew . only if we can catch them . we are a peacefull people . we just like to blow up americans and fellow muslims . we also love dogs they taste like chicken
