I'm not sure what what to make of this wedding announcement that was in our local paper. There was a picture of the couple and apparently it is a legit engagement. I have changed the names of the people...but otherwise line for line, this is what is says. (oh...and the groom is NOT a "lord" or a "IV")
Jane Smith, estranged daughter of of Jack Smith formerly of Jonestown
&
Lord Ronald Jones IV
wish to announce their engagement to be married on July 8, 2007
Jane is the daughter of Liza Smith of no fixed address
Grandmother is Beth Small
Any ideas? Or is everyone else agree that this isnt just weird, but also totally inappropriate? (even in jest)

The reason I view it as perhaps being inappropriate is the announcement saying she is estranged from her Dad I think that should have just been left out, as well as her Mom being of no fixed address; just the girl & her fiance announcing their engagement with no parents mentioned would have been better I think

It sounds more like they are trying to find missing family members not announcing their wedding.

Yeah, it's pretty weird. I don't know how you would deem it innapropriate. Maybe they put "estranged father" in there because obviously the relationship was ended on bad terms and the person just wants the estranged father to still know that she considers him her father. I don't know.
Again, it is weird. Kind of like saying "Summer, the ******* daughter of Jo Schmo...." It's weird. Not innapropriate by my standards, but still odd.

Yeah, that's fantastically weird and wonderful. i do no longer understand the type you will deem it innapropriate. perhaps they positioned "estranged father" in there with the aid of fact for sure the courting became ended on undesirable words and the guy in basic terms needs the estranged father to nonetheless understand that she considers him her father. i do no longer understand. lower back, that's weird and wonderful. variety of like asserting "summer season, the ******* daughter of Jo Schmo...." that's weird and wonderful. no longer innapropriate via my standards, yet nonetheless spectacular.

maybe they wanted to announce it but discreetly to only 'those' people in the know?!! Like using 'code' names and stuff... (just a wild guess.... different strokes for different folks!)
