Pediatricians will tell you to wait 1 year (so does the can of formula). I know people who were weened off of it at 6 months (my best friend) and I know some who were weened at 9-10 months (my niece and others).

I started about 11 months old. My children never had a problem with it. I breast fed for the first 5-6 months and then went to formula. That was the tough part, so formula to whole milk wasn't a problem. TIP: I started on 2% milk for the first couple of months. His/Her stomach may not be able to handle whole milk yet.

Cow's milk shouldn't be given to a child until they are 12 months. Simply replace the formula with milk. I assume since your child is already on formula, they are used to the bottle. So you won't have to go through weening them from breast to bottle. My daughter took to milk very easily. I first tried a few ounces. The next bottle 4 oz. Then phased out the formula all together.

It's supposed to be about a year when the stomach can digest cows milk and is getting enough normal food for good nutrition. I have had problems in that one child had thrush when I switched her over, and the other becomes sick when given whole milk. You can mix them with formula gradually so that eventually they are completely on whole milk.

Your doctor will tell you!!
But not after a year, I think I will wait 18 months, because their digestive systems cannot handle whole milk. Think about it, some Mothers breast feed until their babies are 2...
So it would make sense not to ween a baby until they are at least 1.

Not until they are at least one year old. Their bodies have a hard time digesting it before then. Just watch for constipation, that's usually a sign it's too soon. Mix the formula with milk at first, gradually adding more milk until (s)he is off of formula all together.

My husband wanted to take my son off formula at 3 months old. I told him we would ask the Dr., and go by whatever he said. Surprisingly, the Dr. told us that if we gave out son whole milk, we would have to put him on regular food. I spent the rest of the year using a baby food grinder.
My son is 30 years old now. He has never been sick a day in his life, he has perfect teeth, he's smart, and he is not overweight.
Talk to your pediatrician. Every child is different.

By one year kids should be on whole milk. By that time my son was eating what I ate. I would drink a glass of whole milk and let him drink from my glass at about 11 months. Then it was simple I think. We had already started using sippee cups for juice so we just started drinking milk. Please, if you are gonna go to whole milk, you've gotta get rid of bottles too. Bottles are for formula. (Personal opinion)

I started switching to half formula and half vitamin D milk at 7 months with my son. He was on full milk by the time he turned 1.

when they are 1 yrs old. before then they need all the good stuff that is in formula, once they turn 1 you should change them up slowly. maybe 1 cup of formula, them 1 cup of milk. (make sure you use whole milk it has more vit. that they need.)
