Many Christians do this because they're hypocrites. Others just have not got the self-control to resist temptation. Yet more try to get the best out of both worlds, and so fall flat on their faces. Christians cannot love the world AND love God; they cannot serve God AND Mammon. Please don't let any of this put you off God because no-one warned more than Jesus about such sins.
But also, please don't fall into the trap of thinking God promises heaven to "good" people. He has never done that! He never bribes anyone. He tells us flat that there is no-one good, no, not even one, and that all our righteous acts are as filthy rags, and our sins, like a crumpled leaf, sweep us away. Until we wake up to just how hopeless our sinful situation is (whether we claim to be Christians or not) we will not turn to God who alone can save us. All man-made religions offer a system of works to please, or appease God. Christ alone can bridge the gap between heaven and ourselves. Anyone who puts faith in Christ alone will become a changed person. They won't become perfect, though! Not this side of heaven!

Just because you watch tv or love a particular band doesn't mean you worship them. I love to watch the show Greys Anatomy, does that mean i'm not a true christian? Come on get real. GOD wants his children to enjoy life but to believe in him and worship only him. What do you suggest people do? Not play video games or have a favorite band? You sound like you are confused. I suggest you go to church or read the bible and maybe you can find some answers. I love GOD and I really really like watching Greys Anatomy and by the way I sure love George Strait.

You make a great point! God will evaluate us all, so you need not worry yourself with where christians put their priorities. We can all be proven hypocrites, christians and non-christians alike. When we try to evaluate each other, it is based on so little information, and therefore unfair. And consider that when you make your observations about someone, you're only looking at that person in the present. Our spiritual growth spans a lifetime! What you see is just a snapshot, a short period of time - not the entire person from beginning to end. So perhaps you should lighten up. Many of us, myself included, have had the unfortunate experience of making bad decisions and ended up on the wrong path. But thankfully, we learn from it, turn around and never return, gaining the ability to recognize it's danger when it confronts us again. You seem very wise. I hope you realize that your wisdom developed over time. Give others the time they need as well.

Being a fan of a band, or music group, or movie star, or whatever doesn't make you worship them in the sense you mean. I like my Playstation because it gives me something quiet to do when I can't sleep, but I'm not religious, so my next example is that half of my closest friends are and they'll tell you the same thing. Liking one movie or music star more than others is like disliking one movie or music star more than others - to each his or her own. Don't confuse individual entertainment preferences with religion - in the end, all it is, is liking the way that person portrays themselves or arranges their music so as to speak to as many people as possible without words.
But, since, yes, most Christians, Catholics, and those religions related, DO spend most of their week sinning, only to go to be forgiven for giving their precious God fifteen minutes of thought (I won't say hour because they'er usually wondering why it always takes so long for mass to be over), that by their own religious terms, they will rot in Hell for that. If God did exist, I doubt she would be THAT stupidly naive as to allow such blasphemy.

You don't have the right idea here, because you [anybody] do not get a ticket to heaven for just "being good". You must repent of your sins, accept the Lord Jesus as your savior, and be baptized [if you are able to be] in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then, you try to be good, but if you fail because you still are in the flesh, which is called "backsliding", you repent again, asking for forgiveness and confessing your sin to God [for which you can expect to receive forgiveness for that sin]. We should attend church and Bible study classes in order to grow in Faith. I hope this helps you, and God Bless you for seeking the truth. I hope you find it. Peace.

I believe in God...he made us he knows our failings...and we're all *allowed* to be human and make mistakes. The point of religion is the knowledge that we can do wrong and be forgiven if we ask. I believe that anybody gets to heaven regardless of religion as long as they live life with the intend of causing no deliberate harm to others..so it's not a bribe...it's free will. God gave us all free will...belivers and non believers..so in essence he let's us choose our own path through life...and still in the end no matter how bad anyone is..if they are genuinely sorry and ask for forgiveness they get it.

Firstly, in keeping with your style (important things first):- I am a Christian.
Just one note .... in all of your question above the whole question seems to be about how Christians behave and then expect to get to Heaven as a result of that. Now, I do not believe that life is all about getting to Heaven; I believe that there is meaning and purpose to life (you and I and everyone is here for a reason). As for why Christians do (or "should") conduct their lives differently as a result of their beliefs:- can I just say that for me it is not about what I think I have to do, or should do, or ought to do ... it comes out of a heart that has seen something of God and so desires to follow and please Him. I don't have a TV - it's not because I'm "not allowed" or because I think you are hell-bound if you own one, it's a choice I've made.
God has deliberatly given everyone choices. He could easily provide undeniable truth of His exsistance, yet He leaves you to choose to believe in Him. Equally, following Jesus is a process of continual choices and because we are human we will not go through life without sinning. Christianity is all about being saved by God's grace, we as humans are not infallable - we all make mistakes and sin. So, we by all our good deeds (or attempts) cannot earn our way to heaven. However, God in His mercy and grace has made a way - believe in Jesus. So, Christians do not live by rules and regulations, under law and in condemnation. But rather in God's grace, through forgiveness we have freedom. This doesn't mean that we think it's okay to go round doing just whatever on the basis that we can always repent of our sins later, a heart that truely loves God will honestly desire and seek to follow Him. But we are still people and will make mistakes.
I think you have a good point about Christians not being as different as one might expect and I'd like to apologise because I honestly believe that ones faith and beliefs should impact ones whole life (every aspect of life... so not just Sundays at church, but also at work, at the sports club, in the park, everywhere 24/7).
Because Christians do not brainwash and control their kids, most do watch TV and listen to music, like most kids they'd rather be doing that than washing up (no, a Christian's kids aren't saints).
And finally, God does not have grandchildren - everyone has to make that choice for him/herself. I am not a Christian through my parents belief, it is that I believe in Jesus.

Those who try to resist idolatry inevitably fail in their venture; mostly, instantly. We humans create imperfect images in our own minds of everything we perceive whenever we try to contemplate their existence. It is those mental images that receive our worship and praise rather than the real and physical entities that may or may not exist behind them.
Idolatry is the necessary result of worship in the human consciousness. Any theory of redemption needs to be capable of accepting this fact.

Somehow I think you have not met many christians so i think i should say that in the Bible there is a bit in the gospel where Jesus says to not judge as that is God's job.
when you sin then god would forgive you so even if you do have it with random people - The only person who will go to hell is the devil and someone who wants to go there
