have you ever seen those tracts? terrifying misrepresentations of the truth used to manipulate the hearts and minds of children to be afraid and accept a God that hates them otherwise.
it's crap. It's not just crap, it's heresy.
God forbid that we should sully the work of the Cross by supporting the stupid chick tracts.
good choice. go get peanutbutter cups, they are rated the most popular candy.
if you are really that opposed to halloween....just don't hand anything out. it would be better than the gross misrepresentation you would distribute otherwise.

People have to remain true to there faith. As Christians, we are encouraged through the Word of God to spread His Word. There is nothing wrong with passing tracts to kids. What adult cares about being "way uncool" that's totally immature. Not being pleased with one's religion is only an individuals choice. Tracts will not cause that issue.

I think people should follow their consciences. If they want to hand out tracts, so be it. Personally, I'd rather they keep their lights out so trick-or-treaters will not waste their time. The young kids won't understand, and the older ones might be encouraged to retaliate. But, if a Christian were to give one of my grandchildren a tract, I'd prompt the little ones to say a polite "thank you" (or say it myself) and move on to the next house. As I see it, this is a freedom of conscience issue. I would oppose any attempt to force people to give candy who don't want to just as I would oppose one to abolish the holiday.

Children dress up to have fun tonight, to be someone else for a little while.
On this holiday, they expectt o be told that they look darling and to get tasty treats.
It is asinine to try a preach, or throw your values upon them, by handing out religious parephenalia tonight.
Let the kids have their fun, give them candy. They just want a belly full of sweets, not a mind full of lecture.
Do it for the kids tonight, give 'em candy. Leave the religious BS for some other time.

I agree. Put aside the religious ideas of the Holiday. Kids don't care about religion on Halloween they want candy. If you want to advertise your religion rent a billboard. Since I was little trick or treating was about candy not someone elses ideas or beliefs.

Like all major holidays Halloween is and should be about giving good stuff to little kids. How would anybody feel if all they got from Santa was Chick bible tracts? No you only have so many chances to meet your neighbours and spoil their kids teeth.
Happy Halloween!!!

I think people will do whatever they feel is right. Although children will be dissapointed and throw them away, the person handing it out feels that they have done their part and if they touched one soul out of the masses they have made an improvement. Whether you or the children agree, I say just accept them and thank them and dispose them if you wish once you get home.
I personally would just not give out anything if I were that religious but again, we all have our own styles.

Christian who totally agrees. I think it is tacky. I don't celebrate Halloween but I don't turn kids away from my door. I still give out Candy. Who wants to be the crazy Church Lady who gives out tracks that say abolish Halloween or burn in hell? I look at it this way....it is better to say nothing about your religion than to turn someone off . The last thing I want to do is represent God in the WRONG way.

I don't give out tracts as you put it.
We do not give out candy.
We give all year round. We do not need one day.
However I would rather them not like me for what I am then have them like me for someone I am not.
The kids around our house are very respectful to us and we actually enjoy their company in the summer.

A few years ago i gave out the origins of Samhain to adults and friends. (from a Pagan\Wiccan POV) That didn't make me very popular. Oh well.
Candy for all.
