If you drink a lot of caffeine, your heart rate and breathing might be elevated for a longer period of time. As a result, your intercostal muscles (the muscles that line your rib cage and help you breathe) can become sore. A sharp pain that is present when you inhale is most likely due to this. If this is what you feel, it's probably not serious. Of course, stop ingesting caffeine and relax, and see if the pain goes away. If not, or if it comes back, see a physician. And of course, if you have a heart condition, see the physician right away (though you shouldn't be having caffeine anyway, how naughty).

Absolutely- but only if you have underlying caronary artery disease or stomach problems and the pain (from ulcers or whatever) radiate to you chest. A young healthy person could get a rapid heart rate from too much caffiene but this is unlikely to cause chest pain.

I read something about this recently. Supposedly it could cause less blood flow to your heart when exercising. I have really stopped drinking soda before exercise. You might want to Google this. I do not get chest pain when exercising though and I drink lots of diet soda.

P.S. Chest Pain? See your doctor.

I think you are very young, and you haven't got any heart attack. Relax. Do you have an exam? You should sleep and don't drink coffee evenings. If you wait an hour you will get better. Coffein can make tachycardy, when your heart beats more quickly than normal. You can feel this situation like a chestpain, but it isn't serious.
