Most French people speak English.
American is not a language.

I think some one needs to study more. America is a country, not a language. It's horrible of you to believe that the only decent people are the ones who speak English. Ever heard of Mother Theresa or Nelson Mandela both were very decent people and not American.Why don't you go to France and ask your question to the French people and tell them they they are not decent.See what happens to you if you do that. People like you make all Americans look bad.

You cannot be serious. American isn't a language. americans speak english.
Also America is a new country, not like the rest of Europe that has history spanning 1000s of years so, many of the languages in Europe stem from latin. So you guys should really be speaking French.

The only American language is a dialect of English. In fact, if french people, or any other people, came to America, they wouldn';t be forcd to picj up English. It's strongly adivsed that they do for convenience, but it shouldn't be forced. America doesn't have an official language.

Of Course,
They really want to speak American any way.
I recently saw a sign in France that read.
"Farces ou Friandises" - for Halloween, but I'm sure the kids were all saying "Trick or Treat".
This just prooves how much they all want to speak American.
Maybe we could help by only speaking American when we visit.
I'm sure they would appreciate it.

What is American? That didn't even make sense. Most people in Europe as well as all over the world know English.
Everyone in our country should speak the language that our laws are written in. If I moved to Germany...I wouldn't expect them to change for me. My ancestors came from Germany and they learned English.

I don't speak American, except in case of emergency when I really want to speak to someone and he can't understand my impeccable British accent! If I'm not prepared to speak it, why should a poor Frenchman have to? Don't they have a tough enough time trying to understand the Quebecois?
Besides, why are you so proud of a language which you lifted from the British and then proceeded to mutilate?

I think you Americans should stop speaking "English" cos you speak it so badly and speak French from now on.

OMG, I like so totally aggree with you. Wouldn't it be soooooo much easier for Americans when they go on vacation to emerse themselves in the cultures of other countries if they all spoke American too.
