Oh yeah. People have a misconception about us. Like other people, we get tired too. We don't come home after a hard day and make a 7 course meal. We're tired after a long day and we just want something quick and easy. If I don't eat at the restaurant, I'll pick up some fast food or make some soup and a sandwich. Or sometimes, I'll make a whole lot of food and save the rest for leftovers. We don't cook all the time. We're just like other people.

I do a little of both. I like to cook from scratch. But then I also do use some of the gifts that technology has given us.
When I worked 6 days a week and 12 hours a day on those days...I know I used to take my day off and I would make my own "tv dinners". I would cook a couple of meals and put them in glad ware containers so I wouldn't have to cook when I got home.

I always cook when I get home. I would never eat any pre-prepared frozen or microwave meals. It is possible to prepare and cook tasty simple nutritious meals in the same time it takes to open a packet and shove it in the microwave, but the food / advertising industries won't let you believe that.
Do I cheat? yes, when I have the time I will cook several casserole type dishes at once, portion and freeze them.
If you put rubbish into your body from a diet of processed and "take away" food, it's no wonder that you feel tired when you get home.

If this missus doesn't cook i will settle for beans on toast, don't really enjoy cooking at home much especially after a hard day over a hot stove, prefer cooking for large numbers as well, cooking for 1 or 2 is to much of a pain, after all the prep and having seen food all day much nicer to have a meal waiting that i have had nothing to do with enjoy it a lot more. maybe I'm just a lazy b.

My husband is a chef, and "when" he cooks ( not to often) at home, he never takes short cuts. Most of the time he don't get home until really late though so he just goes to bed...

Puff pastry is about the only shortcut I'll use. Sometimes I want to kick myself for having such ridiculous standards. But food and cooking are my life, so I can't imagine a time when I'll give myself a break and do it differently xxx

On the rare occasions I cook at home, I do it right.
Thanksgiving & Christmas are huge meals & all fresh.
After spending 12 hours at work, who has the energy to cook at home.

It depends on what you mean by shortcuts. I love cooking for us, but canned goods and frozen veggies come in really handy. You'd never know it from a restaurant. It's all in how you use the pantry stuff.
