Over my life I've always used a bath rug in my bathroom in front of the toilet. My wife is convinced its the worst idea in the world because they attract germs and urine. I don't like to see the mess that can gather in front of the toilet when there is no rug there. I've also had roommates in the past ask that we (men) sit down to pee in order to prevent the need for the rug because they thought it was bad for our health. Anyway, I think the whole thing is weird and I want the real truth. If they are bad, then why is every store in America selling them like hotcakes? If they are good, why are people like my wife and old roommates complaining about them? Whats the real truth behind both arguments?

Thanks,
Keith

it's either the rug or the floor... which is easier to clean on a more frequent basis.

and urine splashes so do toilets.

just have a rug.. a floor.. and cleaning apparel for the bathroom.

germs are there always will be...

no need for the arguments.. just maintain a decorum of cleanliness for the bathroom.. ain't no one's fault.. nothing one can do about it.. it's just one of those things.

just keep the stuff washed up and pretty up to date when it comes to the filth that comes from daily routines and natural bodily functions.

:D

I can maybe see that point if you were talking about the rug that fits around the tolet but not if its in front of the tub or shower. They are not bad if your wife knows how to use a washer and dryer then you guys have no problem.

If you wash them every week, whats the problem? Whats the difference of having it on the floor or on the rug. Both have to get washed?

a rug is fine as long as you wash it regularly. pee is sterile anyway, but why don't you make it into the toilet? Is it that hard, and even if water does splash, get closer to the toilet to prevent that from happening.

As long as they are washed regularly in disinfectant (like Lysol disinfectant liquid) then if you must have a rug in the bathroom--fine. Should be twice a week--more if there is urine on it.
