I should have said that I would get Sam Harris or Dawkins in paper back. I don't think God Delusion or either of Harris' books are.

The End of Faith by Harris is in paperback. You might also try The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan. I am currently reading The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel and The God Delusion by Dawkins.

Other good ones:
Why I Am Not A Christian, Bertrand Russell
Atheist Universe, David Mills
Dynamics of Faith, Paul Tillich

On Intelligence
Jeff Hawkins

Not a religion or atheism book. But it is good readable description of what intelligence is, and how our human brains are become intelligent when other animals haven't. It does touch on philosophy.

Another book I recommend:
The Emperor's New Mind
Roger Penrose.

It's not entirely about religion, but I can't recommend The Demon-Haunted World (by Carl Sagan) highly enough. It's a 'must-read'.
