My bible version is The New Living Translation (a plain English version). It says...You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed."

This verse basically states that God planned you - He made you - He created you with a plan for your life! How awesome is that?!? God does not operate on the same timeline as we do. He was & is & is to come! He has always been here - is here now - & will always be. He time is different than ours. Hope this helps. It helps to understand who God is. Keep reading the scriptures, ask questions & speak to Him - He will reveal His truth to you as long as you keep reading His Word.

Ps 139:16
...Your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Psalm 139 is an awesome expression of several attributes of God, of His omnipresence, omniscience, and sovereignity over life.

This verse focuses on God's ability to know us, and all about us before we are born. In fact, back up and see the context of this verse:

Ps 139:13-15
3 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth...

Sounds like God is active in our lives, to form us in the womb and to determine the length of our days on earth. However, sovereignty is not arbitrary and nor does God's perfect plan for our lives automatically eventuate.

Babies are aborted so that they cannot realize God's great purpose for them in this world. People are murdered and lives are cut short---all in the exercise of someone's freewill.

Contrary to God's purpose, will and plan for a baby, a woman aborts her child because she doesn't want the inconvience of having a baby---in the exercise of her selfish freewill. People murder and rob people of God's gift of life...in the exercise of their evil freewill.

Hope this gives some understanding of that verse to you.

Similar to Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans that I think for you, says the LORD, plans of good, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."

Even before a person is born, God knows who they will be and what they can do. He has a plan and a reason for putting you were and when you are. It is a plan for your good. All you need to do is find Him and walk in His plan. Then you will have a future and a hope.

I believe it means that God knew everything I would experience even before I was born, before time began. We do have free will to make our own choices and sometimes, a lot of the time, we make choices that grieve God's spirit, but he leaves us to make those choices because He wants us to choose HIM. If he forced us to, it wouldn't mean as much. However, He still knows what choices we will make and what path those choices will lead us down.

David knew that God knew him even before he was born.
God can see bacteria which is a good thing causes stuff to decay and go away. He can see in a womens womb and the other planets and everywhere.

16 Your eyes saw even the embryo of me,
And in your book all its parts were down in writing,
As regards the days when they were formed
And there was not yet one among them

Yes, God knew David as he was conceived.

The book is our DNA.

We are not pre destined. We have free will.

When Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, God said "Now I know you are a man of faith, because you did not hold back your son."

a similar passage in the o.t. would be: jeremiah 1:4-5
"the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah saying:"before i formed
you in the womb,i knew you; before you were born i sanctified you."

God sees us in our mother's womb and has a plan for us. Our names are written in the book of life when we are born. When we reject Christ - the name is blotted out.
