Prayer is to help you align yourself with the will of God so yes it is very much communication. He speaks back to you when you can feel your heart tug you in a direction.

Yes they do. Listen. This past Saturday I held an indoor family costume carnival that I've been planning since August. Well, being that I live in new York, there was terrible storm and there was even pics on the news of floods. They promised windy rain for the whole day. I thought for sure I'd have to cancel the event. But I prayed to God that if he wanted it to happen then He'd bring the sun out. WELL, sure enough the sun came out and it was so warm that people had to take off their jackets. It was also a huge turn out at the party. This is what I call a two way conversation!

YES IT IS, But you will see the answer to your prayer in a different way,if you look and know what to look for. It used to be a two way conversation between man and God,but that is how far we have gotten away from God.

Meditative prayer is when you listen. To meditate, in a Biblical sense, is usually to sit and think about your life, and how the passages that you have read from the Bible apply to your life. The Bible says that God gives wisdom to those who ask for it, so this state of quiet thinking is assumed to be God the Holy Spirit guiding your thoughts to the correct answer (I.E.: this is the equivalent of God speaking to you).

What 147 elk taught me about prayer.

The author Brennan Manning, who leads spiritual retreats several times each year, once told me that not a single person who has followed his regimen for a silent retreat has failed to hear from God. Intrigued and a bit skeptical, I signed up for one of his retreats, this one extending over five days. Every attendee met for an hour each day with Brennan, who would give us assignments in meditation and spiritual work. We also met together for daily worship, during which time only Brennan talked. Beyond this, we were free to spend our time as we wished, with only one requirement: two hours of prayer per day...

Speaking requires someone to be listening. If you are listening in your prayer time, God will "speak". Sometimes it is an audible voice but more often than not is simple knowledge that God has given you information. How God "speaks" with you will be different that how He "speaks" to me. The important thing is to not rush God. Allow plenty of time in your prayer to wait on God.

I believe prayer is communication with God. I am a Christian, so I believe the Bible is one way God communicates with me. I talk to God through prayer, asking God for help with something, like a sick sister, or I may ask God for guidance, help making a good decision. I believe he communicates back to me through his Holy Spirit, communicating to my spirit. Sometimes Christians call this - God laying something on their heart - kind of like a gut feeling. But it takes maturing as a Christian to know the difference between my own feelings and God's guidance.
Another way to look at prayer is to think of it like a letter. You receive a letter, by reading the Bible, then you answer back through prayer. A lot of Christian prayer is spent praising God, telling him how much you love him, and how much better your life is because you know him.
I hope this helps.

Yes. The best prayer is a conversation with the one that loves us the most and then when we are tuned in well to hear, spend time listening.

Yes, god speaks to us by means of his "word" the Holy Scriptures. By means of it we are able to receive direction, guidance & encouragement. We are also able to have the important questions in life answered, such as:
What is the purpose of life?
What happens when we die?
What is the future for the earth?
Does god really care about us? ... If so, why does he permit suffering?
Of course one will most likely need assistance from someone familiar with what the bible says to help them find the answers to such questions.
