Hi. I wasnt bitten exactly, I just felt my one of my dog's fangs touch my foot. There wasnt any bleeding and no signs of scratch. He has had the antirabies vaccine recently and hasnt the rabies. But I am a bit worried anyway. Could there be a possibility of getting the rabies?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

When I owned a kennel I got bitten at least once a week. A dog cannot give you rabies unless it has it, and yours has been given the shot. Relax.

Hi Fiona, Your dog is very unlikely to have rabies so I wouldn't worry about it. There are other possible infections so you should wash the area of the bite thoroughly with soap and water and go to your doctor if it becomes inflamed, especially if there are any visible lines of inflammation radiating from the wound or travelling along a limb. You should have, at some time in your life, have been vaccinated against tetanus (lockjaw). Find out if you have been vaccinated and if you are due a booster shot. This is a far more common problem from bites and cuts than rabies, but is still unlikely. EDIT: If you live in England, the possibility of your dog having rabies is almost non-existent. Britain is currently free of rabies.

Very little chance that your dog has rabies unless he is allowed to run loose and there are rabid wild animals or other dogs with rabies in the area he runs. If he does not show any odd behavior type symptoms and does not foam at the mouth in the next few weeks you are safe.

No. How could you get rabies if the dog has had the vaccine, doesn't have rabies and the tooth didn't even break the skin?

Come on......THINK.

No. First, if you dog does NOT have rabies, he CANNOT transmit rabies to someone. Secondly, transmission of rabies requires fluid contact with your bloodstream. Without direct fluid into your blood, there is NO CHANCE of transmission of rabies.

NO WAY! you're safe don't worry about it. I've been bitten by sick dogs in the past and nothing has happened to me and you can't catch rabbies like that if your dog doesn't have it
