As long as the car seat is in the car properly and the child is using all restraints, then yes, it is fine for them to be in the middle.

Depends on the laws of your state. For example, when I lived in Alabama they didn't allow you to put any child seats in the middle of the back seat. That law may have changed by now, but you should check with your DMV or Secretary of State or whatever just to make sure. You don't want to get a ticket for that.
If there's no law against it, from a safety perspective it's fine as long as you obey all state laws, like having an approved seat that's tall enough for your toddler, securing the seat properly, etc.

Hi there!
If the car seat is a seat that uses the latch system to attach to the car and the child is still using the five point harness, then yes. If the seat you are using is a booster seat then no. Due to the booster seat only attaching to the car via the regular 3 point seat belt that comes with the car already

The middle is actually the safest place for the child in the back seat in a properly installed car seat. The middle provides more protection from side impact collisions.

I would think it would be the best place. With it in the middle it also protects the infant from side impact accidents. It will also give you a better chance to see the child in your rear view mirror. You can adjust the mirror to see out the rear and to see your child also. I would check with your state laws to be sure. Each state has different laws on child seats.
