I've been there, it doesn't work. Why, because when a man and a woman become intimate for a long period of time it becomes so familiar to be sexually attracted to each other, that to try to break that bond is either heart-wrenching or impossible. Being friends is way too uncomfortable after all is said and done. I'm still recovering, so I am a bit biased.

Yes they can go out and be just friends. You liked them to start with, just because you aren't dating doesn't mean you are to be enemies.Some of your best friends, are after you quit dating them, and expecting them to be how you want them to be. You both know where you stand, you couldn't be togeather for some reason, but don't quit being friends.

I think it is possible. Me and my ex-boyfriend are still friends and we broke up over 12 years ago.

if they both agree on breaking up. Maybe but if one wants to break up and the other does not want to then i think it will be harder to be just friends.
