My boyfriend and I have known eachother since we were 15 years old in high school. We have been dating since we were 16 and have been together for almost 5 years now (we are 21). Last year in july, we were at a jewelry store and he bought my engagement ring. It's been over a year and still no proposal! our anniversary is coming up early next year... is that what he's waiting for??

You need to talk to him...I think he is afraid of marriage...there might be things he is "unsure" about you or him etc. Tell him you want to sit down and have a serious conversation and that you really want to marry him and want his opinion, why he is waiting and all that...

Don't know but high-school sweet heart are very rear. He's a keeper. How sweet. Good luck and remember to don't force him into anything, he will resent you. Just show him your love and provide him with hints that tell your waiting have a limit.

Anyways, 21 years old is still too young. Give it about another two to three years or so; by then you will have a college degree, had found yourself, and will be ready to settle down. Remember; do not move in with each other just yet. Let marriage be something to look forward to, that's when you move in. Good luck.

Maybe he is waiting for the anniversary. maybe he is planning something special.

maybe he has noticed you are more interested in the ring and a wedding than you are in him, or a lifetime of committment to him.

Sheesh. You're only 21 years old - maybe he wants to finish college, start a career, buy a house, be financially stable before he jumps into marriage. maybe he has never been with anyone else, and wants to keep his freedom a little longer. 21 is DAMN young to be getting married, I don't care if you have dated since you were 15.

Have you ever thought that maybe he is trying to surprise you!!! Maybe he is just waiting for the perfect moment to catch you off guard to make it special. Might be kind of hard since you know he bought the ring. I wouldn't say anything, unless your willing to give up the relationship for him not proposing!!

Umm, getting married at 21 will be the worse mistake you ever made. Trust me. You need to see other people before you make that kind of commitment. You'll be pissing and moaning by the time your 3o. Trust me on this.

Perhaps.

Be patient - you can't rush marriage - EVER. Rushing it is a huge mistake that comes with consequences later.

Good luck and since he already purchased the ring...Congrats!! :)

He is waiting for when he feels the time is right. Don't pressure him or he'll bag the whole thing and leave you. If you are happy being his girlfriend, don't risk messing it up by talking with him.

It could very well be, but at the same time are you two financially ready/set?

I would just be patient and wait and see.

calm down and stop trying to rush things. He'll come around, maybe he's waiting for the right time.
