Some have an acute gag reflex, of which I confess to possess as well. Didn't stop me from changing them, however. It got better with time, but I also got better at holding my breath.

Because men are weak. Just kidding. It may be a real problem or it may be in his head. Give him a fabric softener sheet, tell him to place it over his nose and tie it on with a neck tie and then tell him to change that diaper. You can't be there all of the time/ there is going to be a time when he is going to need to change a stinky diaper.

My husband said it was a weak stomach. I believed it was all in his head. One time he was watching the baby and he did his business and my husband got in the car with baby and drove to his mom's house, 5 miles away so she could change the diapers. In all he changed "dirty diapers twice. And now my son has the same problem, he gags and throws up but he's a bit more of a trooper that his dad. He tries and then hollers for help.lol

For some people well bodily functions can really repulse them and make them want to throw up. On the other hand though it could be a show so you will have to do the dirty work. I doubt it is some type of problem but if it becomes worse consult a doctor.

It's not made up, and he ISN'T trying to get out of it.

Some of us are acutely reactive to smells, and have a strong gag reflex. Did you ever witness someone else throw up, and nearly do so, yourself...? Same kind of thing, only moreso.

I'm female, and never tried to get out of any messy duty, but I could so easily heave at the smell of any bodily ejecta that it's all I can do to keep my lunch down while I do it.

P.S. You might want to see if your husband is what is called a "supertaster"...someone whose sense of taste is far more sensitive than the general public. Such folks don't like strong smells or tastes, and make wonderful sommeliers!

He probably has a really weak stomach. And let's face it -- a diaper can be nasty business. Why don't you offer to be the primary diaper changer and let him take on another part of the child care, such as feeding or bathing or whatever.

One of Two reasons...........................

1, He truly cant stand being the in the same room when your changing your Childs Nappy as it truly makes him want to puke!! Hopefully it will get better with more time (but by then you will have potty trained your child)

2, He is fakingit just to get out of Nappy changing this is not unheard of!!

Personally i think its number 2 but only you know if he is faking it or not. If it was me in your shoes i would but tell him he has to do this as its part of being a parent!!!.

Sorry to be blunt!!

Hope you find the answer your looking for hunny x x x x

I think it is psychological just to get out of changing the diapers as there are alot worse smells out there!

It's perfectly normal for people to have something that makes them sick, no matter when, where, who, or how. If he throws up because of a dirty diaper, it's not his fault and it's not something he's doing on purpose. Personally, I get sick every time someone near me pukes, or if I smell puke. I can't help it. Wish it didn't happen but I know that my husband will be there for me to clean up our kid's puke so I don't have to take care of it. I'm sure you've got something that'll make you sick and you can't help it, it just isn't dirty diapers.

My husband used to, and he never had to change her. Then about 4 months old, I told him too bad, go puke and come back and finish. Guess what? Once he found out he wasn't getting out of it, suddenly.....he didn't puke! She is 13 months old now, and gets ever other diaper, just like he should! It's a "men are lazy" problem!
