As it has been said, the real name of the religion is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Shortly before I converted 14 years ago, I found the Articles of Faith. It gives a brief overview of what we believe.
Please use the web links below for accurate info, or ask a Mormon neighbor. You may hear/have heard many things which are not accurate.

Check out the website" www.lds.org

And hear all about the mormon faith from the source, not from judgemental people that live in Fear that you might convert to Mormonism.

Mormonism is a Christian Faith, as Evangelical Christianity, but it also agrees with the teachings of Joseph Smith !!

Christianity is the largest Religion in the world today, yes but that includes Mormonism, The Catholic Church, Jehovahs Witnesses, Christian Science and many many many others, NOT simply evangelical christianity.

This is what makes Christianity the largest Religion in the World. No other reason.

And there are many differences between all of the different Christian Faiths of the World today, which each teach they, and they only have the Real Jesus, the Real Way for Salvation !!!!

The Best source to learn anything about the LDS Faith, the Mormon Faith is from the Mormon Church. Or at their website:

www.lds.org

They only share with you if you are interested in learning.

They do not judge others that do not believe the same way they do. And this is what Jesus Christ Taught. Jesus taught the truth!

A form of Christianity. They follow the Book of Morman which was "added" to the Bible. Wonderful family people but the religion is similar to a cult

yI didn't know much about it til I spent a year out west. (Utah and Nevada.) Man, there's a bunch of them out there! Don't mistake Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints with the mainstream unit. The fundamentalist's have got there butt in a sling over plural marriage and hooking old guys up with underage girls. Main streamers forbid plural marriage long ago. Mostly the don't bother people much. They let their missionaries do that. Clean living. No smoke, no drink. etc. They follow the teachings of a guy who got some message out of his hat that he said was from god. Seriously.

It's a cult started by Joseph Smith Jr. (he was a mason).

They hold JSJ (founder) teachings (Book of Mormon) in higher regard than the Holy Bible. Check out Rev. 22:18-21 for an answer to the Book of Mormon.

JSJ says that an angel came to him and told him were to find the "golden tablets" (book of Mormon.) ((He put them in a hat in order to translate them.)) He changed his story three different times as to who appeared, where and when they appeared.

((I'm thinking, I remember ALL pivotal points in my life.))

They also don't teach "grace" they believe in works.

They teach that good Mormon males becomes Gods.

They don't believe in the trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). They believe each one is separate, so they are actually polytheists.

As (men) move up in the ranks of the religion, they have special rituals (very, very secretive.)

It is a religion based on the "revelations" of man in the 19th century who had a crystal ball, named Joseph Smith. Most of his revelations, if not all, contradict scripture. Since his day, The Latter Day Saints, as they are called, try to disguise themselves as a sect of Christianity, which they most certainly are not. Most theological terms are twisted to mean other than what is accepted by mainstream Christianity. They do not believe Jesus Christ is God, but god as you are god. Confusing, but everyone is a god to them...
