Is it not strange that for 364 days of the year we tell our children, whatever their age, not to take sweets from strangers and not to talk to strangers, yet on Halloween we actively encourage them to go knocking on doors of people that don't know looking for candy. How Ironic is that?

Our house is fuly done up at the front. Cobwebs, Spiders, the lot. But I do understand where your coming from. We just had 8 teenagers come to the door, who rung the bell 4 times in a row, my 1 year old is in bed, thats not what I have a problem with. What gets on my nerves is that if your gonna go trick or treating, my idea of a costume is not a pair of devil horns with my hoody and jeans!! my kids have full costume on and i think giving them sweets and money is not a waste when we've made an effort.Teenagers do like sweets too, that is a fair point, but I do think by the time your 13 maybe 14 u should leave it to the experts-the 0-12 year olds!!they look so sweet don't they!!! Bless!

I stopped trick or treating at 11, but I think they do it because it's something to do with their friends and they get loads of free sweets.

Yeah, they are really too old but there isn't really a rule on the age limit.

When you answer the door but on a voice and make a fuss over "how adorable" they look and give them little kiddy sweets like teletubbies or tweenies brand stuff and they probably won't come back next year, but be prepared for eggs at your window if you do that at first.

My teenager takes my younger daughter - she stands in the background and they share the booty when they get home. I watched "The 70's show" last night where Fez discovers Halloween. It was hilarious. Teenagers love fun too. I wouldn't be too hard on them. But there should be a cut-off time. 8 o' clock is reasonable. That's when all little vampires should be in bed.

Where I am trick or treating ends at 8 o'clock. Turn your outside light off if you don't want anymore trick or treators...or put a sign in your front yard, must be shorter than this to get candy!

it annoys me too! They came knocking on my door and I just ignored it, then I heard one of them saying 'they cant be arsed getting up', I dont think a child would come out with that.
They even dress up and they usually come a few days before they should because they know that people wont have any sweets in, so they try and get money instead - BRATS!!!!!!!

i agree teenagers can be annoying. but it's also annoying if you really want to go when you're a teenager and people refuse to give you candy because you're too old. that would happen to me. i stopped when i was like 15. i was just out to celebrate halloween with my friends. we weren't wreaking havoc on the neighborhood or being obnoxious.

I agree, It seems everyone is out to gain free stuff these days, and teenagers REALLY don't deserve to be trick or treating...they are definately too old!

I don't see a problem with it as long as they are dressed up. I wouldn't hand out candy to anyone who wasn't in a costume.

I'd rather have them trick or treating then tp-ing houses, or stealing candy from kids though.
