We all know the U.S is a religious country, and there's nothing wrong with that, but isn't anybody over there afraid that one day US religions could turn violent say if... the economy collapsed or some other nationwide disaster struck, history has repeatedly proved that when things go 'belly up', thats when there is violent social upheaval.

That would be possible whether or not the country was religious. (Look at France last summer.) However, with religion to back them up, those who took the law into their own hand would feel vindicated by asserting they were doing God's work, which of course would mean they were doing God's killing, just as the Taliban did in Afghanistan.

I do think that things could turn violent if the economy collapsed. I think it would be very primal and wicked let loose. I don't think it's got much to do with religion though, and I don't think that the US is still a religious country nor do I think we have Gods hand of protection still on us. I think we are so far from God that he's letting us to our own ways. I am glad that I have a garden and cloth diapers and a stash of rice and beans and water and I just don't worry about it too much rather live my life everyday to the fullest.

Well some may argue with you over the US being religious and it certainly can't be considered Christian having booted Gods law out and prayer out and making many things legal which are against Gods law. And as to violence it already is here. Just check out what happens when the power goes out in a city or a hurricane hits or something. Its lawlessness.

Religions don't turn violent. (except radical Islam from the get-go)
Society does. Those who put their trust in God, provide for others, not take from others.
Basically, the U.S. is NOT a religious country, contrary to perceptions. More citizens put their faith in the dollar than in God.

There aren't as many fundies as it seems, but the squeaking wheel gets the oil, and they seem to be the loudest right now.

i think that if something happen to our society, it will be a confrontation between muslims and Christians, inside the society, and will create a chaos around us.

The US is not a religous country.

If it were, why is there so much capital punishment?

Why is there so much no fault divorce?

Why is there so much legal fornication?
