Interesting point. I've heard it "No Jesus, no peace; Know Jesus, Know peace", which I think is more accurate. You're right, if there was no Jesus, there wouldn't be a "beast", Satan, Devil, whatever you call him. Kudos on your opinion.

well, the fact is that there is God, and believing or not believing in Him doesn't change that fact. Now, although obviously God created all that is, so that would include "the devil", most Christians have some kind of belief that Satan used to be a highly esteemed angel and he got greedy and wanted to be a god himself and that's how he "fell" from Heaven and became the arch-enemy of God. But nobody really knows what happened. What we can know is that all of the misery in the world grieves the heart of God and in the end, He will avenge all of the lost innocence and all of the brutality and all of the selfishness that has occured through the ages. We aren't sure why it's taking so long, but we are assured of it happening one day. And one last thought--Jesus Christ, the Prince of the Universe, the saviour of our souls, is at work everywhere in the world, changing hearts, intervening in situations...there is so much good happening in the world right now that we miss it through all of the horrible stuff. ok, I know I sound like a Bible thumping dork, but I believe with every fiber of my being in the goodness and love of God and that we just can't understand clearly right now all of the things that are going on... peace to you (sorry for being so long-winded)

God did not make the devil. The Devil rebelled against God in heaven, and God kicked him out. Without Jesus, we are condemmed to hell. The person who told you "know Jesus, know peace" was saying that if you have Jesus you have the peace of knowing that you will go to heaven to be with Him forever.
A question for you, if you believe that God made the Devil, are you not acknowledging the presence of God? How then are you an Atheist?

God didn't make the Devil. He created a being (Lucifer) with free will to make of himself as he will. He chose to make himself negative and vane. And likewise, our troubles and misery is of our own making.
One small example: God said, don't lie. Yet all the world is full of lies; most people think nothing of telling a lie, even when there are negligible consequences. Which causes more misery to you, when someone tells you the truth, or when they lie to you? Just multiply that logic throughout the Ten Commandments and you'll see why the world is in such misery.
BTW, if you don't care, why are you always asking questions here in R&S?

The sad thing is that it is becoming very apparent that the main pillar which atheist stands on is evil in the world. How very short sighted and even worse you use Christians as your personal punching bags to make your selves feel better.
Evil does not prove the absence of God with that logic you would have to say Goodness proves the presence of God.

If there were no good there would still be evil. Jesus and the Devil are not interchangeable! You can have one without the other. That's the point of overcoming evil, to get to a place where there is only good and evil is non-existent!

What you've portrayed is essentially a Manichean view, which is that the world is a battleground between the equal and opposite forces of good and evil.
Orthodox Christianity does not teach this. Satan is not an equal to God, but merely, according to the bible, a fallen created being who is what he is do to his own choices. We do not believe the nature of evil is that of being a substance in and of itself, Evil is not a personal or tangible force in opposition to God or goodness. Evil is simply the absence of God.
Evil is manifest in human existence any time we set aside goodness - to which we are ordered - and take up self-interest instead. God is goodness. When we stray from that path - that's what evil is. Not some kind of equal and opposite "anti-god."
Jesus, for me, is peace. It is a name I can contemplate that frees me from troubles and worry, for as he himself said, do not worry about tomorrow, today has enough cares of its own. That may be what your friend is getting at.

With so many questions I suggest you head to the apologetics section of a Christian bookstore for knowledge (no sarcasm intended). The fallacy of Athiesem is shown in the fact that when people declare "There is no God", instead of worshipping nothing, they always find something to worship. God has placed in each man a desire to know Him (kind of like an adopted child seeking his birth parents) and man will either fill it with the true God or false Gods (wooden idols/success/money/material possesions...)

would you want to live in a world without choice? or freedom? If you were ever loved or ever truly loved someone else, Jesus would make a 1000x more sense to you.
If you can comprehend that not everything makes sense and some things are based on faith, you would be able to accept God's love for you :)...because he loves you even though you don't love him. Thats why he died for you.
